Wizard’s Creek Labradors

Our story

In retrospect, it is impossible to say when the idea of creating a kennel arose. Our first Labrador with Raija Raun was a brown female Juht Minna – born at Christmas 1994 and came home to us in the spring of 1995. Juht Minna was just like a friend and a companion to us and our three cats.

  • Years passed, but in the fall of 1998, Raija found a suitable groom for our dog, and on January 2, 1999, their first litter was born. Maybe everything would have remained as before, but the black male puppy Marski and the yellow female Matilda had already found a place in our hearts. Thanks to them, the door to a new life was ajar. Exhibition tours in Estonia and neighbouring countries began, endless drives and overnight stays in hotels. Success took wings and there was no turning back as three drops of blood had been given.

  • On September 13, 2001, FCI registered the kennel name Wizard’s Creek, as a reference to our residence in the village of Kaberneeme on the banks of the Kaberla stream. Years passed – puppies, breeding, shows and other hobbies. Above all, work accompanied all this. Raija was naturally gifted to see the dog’s potential of its future appearance even at the age of a puppy. She also used this ability when evaluating the litters of other breeders and giving recommendations.

  • In the second half of 2010, Raija’s health began to deteriorate. The kennel activity remained more in the background and litters were rare. We started to disappear from the picture.

  • On February 17, 2021, the yellow female Wizard’s Creek Miss Marmalade gave birth to a litter of six – black, yellow and one brown. These were the last puppies that Raija saw. On May 5, 2021, her journey with us came to an end and, she had left a mark on our dogs’ world. Together we felt the joy and the bitterness of loss, but the only question left was what would happen next.

  • When one door closes, another always opens. A black male of the February litter was still available. One evening in April, Janika Printsmann called me, with whom we agreed that she would come to see the puppy on Saturday morning. Janika came with her younger son and back home they went as dog owners.

  • Now Janika had given her three drops of blood and her first Labrador was a black male Wizard’s Creek Rolling Coal aka Mars.

  • I started going to exhibitions again, where Janika took part with her dog. A curious and active dog owner who soon passed the breeder’s training and consistently trained for Mars’s breed test.

  • Mingil hetkel leidsime, et Janika võiks kenneli tegevust jätkata, rakendada sinna oma energia ja nägemuse labradoridest. Hetkel on tal juba kolm labradori. Küsimus, mis saab edasi, leidis lahenduse.

  • At some point, we found that Janika could continue the activities of the kennel, apply her energy and vision of Labradors there. At the moment, she already has three Labradors. The question of what happens next had found an answer.
